These
photos show the progress of the Fruit
Street Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF)
and Force Main Projects that began
this spring. The Force Main portion of the
project included installation of a 6”
high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe from
the WWTF on the Fruit Street Property out to
Fruit Street
all the way to
Saddle Hill Road
.
The
Force Main Project is close to 80% complete
with final testing of the force main and
paving on
Fruit Street
still to be completed. Paving on
Fruit Street
will be completed next spring which will
close out the project. This project will be
completed on schedule and all indications
are it will come in under budget. J.P.
Cardillo is the General Contractor for the
force main project.
The
WWTF project is also under way with
construction started this spring. The
majority of the clearing and site work have
been completed including pouring of concrete
for the wastewater treatment tanks and
process building. Construction of the
process building is scheduled to begin
within a month and the majority of the
concrete work for the treatment tanks and
process building foundation and walls will
be completed shortly.
The
WWTF is approximately 15% complete but will
ramp up considerably over the upcoming
months. It is scheduled to be completed next
fall/winter with startup of equipment
beginning next spring. Upcoming milestones
will be installation of the disposal field,
installation of all site piping,
construction of the process building,
completion of remaining site work,
completion of the access road and final
startup and testing.
The
Department of Public Works and the
Facilities Department are monitoring the
project and working with the Design
Engineer, AECOM, who is also providing
onsite resident engineering services for the
project. Waterline Industries is the General
Contractor for the WWTF project.
